Our story
Jean Noël Thorel
Jean-Noël Thorel, a French pharmacist and expert in cellular biology, founded the NAOS company and the Institut Esthederm, Bioderma and Etat Pur brands.
In the 1970s, this research scientist with a passion for cell biology thought up a new generation of cosmetics: highly technical skin care products capable of interacting with the skin’s biology to obtain lasting results. This is how he designed the first sun care products that activated melanin, the skin’s natural protective pigment.
