I'm glad you asked - at NAOS, we pride ourselves on constantly advancing ethical practices in the beauty industry. For complete transparency, we've compiled the information below and hope it will help clarify our position.

ANIMAL TESTING: First and foremost, we would like to remind you that all our products comply with current international regulations, including European regulations, which are among the strictest in the world when it comes to consumer protection. Faithful to the great principles of ecobiology that drive NAOS, we develop products that respect the skin and protect the health of our customers, while seeking to minimize our impact on the environment. We select and carry out quality controls on the ingredients we use. In Europe, the cosmetics sector has been a pioneer in this field: since September 11, 2004, animal testing has been banned for finished cosmetic products. Since March 11, 2009, this ban has also applied to cosmetic ingredients (with the exception of certain tests banned on March 11, 2013). As this lack of animal testing is a regulatory requirement in Europe, you won't see any claims about the absence of animal testing on our products.

RAW MATERIALS DERIVED FROM ANIMALS: NAOS brands (Bioderma - Institut Esthederm - État Pur) do not use any raw materials derived from protected animal or plant species (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora). Traditionally, animal substances were widely used in cosmetics (collagen, milk, etc.). Food-related health problems (foot-and-mouth disease, Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease and "mad cow" disease, for example) cast doubt on the use of these raw materials, most of which have been largely replaced since the 1980s. What's more, we no longer use products derived from cattle, sheep or goats, with the exception of (cow's) milk and lanolin (sheep's wool). We also use beehive products (honey, propolis, royal jelly) and marine ingredients (plankton, chitosan, etc.). For each of these ingredients, we ensure perfect traceability, guaranteeing the origin of the material and the production processes used. We also check its quality, reproducibility, and purity. We are committed to ensuring the safety of all our products, as demonstrated by advanced clinical studies and rigorous cosmetovigilance. All the ingredients in our formulas have been carefully selected according to strict dermatological criteria and recommended by toxicology experts.
